Care Buddy (Mental Health Befriending)
Filos Community Mental Health Services support persons who are at risk of or who have mental health issues to live and age well in the community. Care Buddy Volunteers will do monthly home visits to provide friendship and social connection to clients.
- Timing: Flexible
- Frequency: Once a month, Min 6 months
- Volunteer Requirements: Open to volunteers aged 21 years old and above; Able to converse in English + Malay/ Mandarin/ local dialects will be beneficial
Through this volunteering role, you will help in
- Increasing social connectedness of beneficiary which improves physical and mental wellbeing that serves as a form of protective factor
- Increasing social support for clients through befriending and creation of social circle(s)
- Increasing client's reintegration in the community and overall quality of life
Care Buddy Volunteer
How you can help:
- Foster friendship for clients 18 years old and above; vulnerable to, and/or diagnosed with mental health conditions through monthly house visits.
- Monitor client's health status and needs. Inform Filos of client's social needs so we may link them to services.
- Provide relevant updates to staff on client's progress through monthly reports.
Volunteer Requirements:
- Aged 21 years old and above
- Able to converse in English + Malay/ Mandarin/ local dialects will be beneficial
- No prior experience needed as training will be provided on basic mental health conditions
